Entering electric utility usage for homes with PV
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Entering utility usage for homes with existing PV is fairly straightforward for homes that have had systems installed for at least a year. If a home has had PV installed during the year, take a few extra steps.

  1. Homes with existing PV

Enter the monthly usage that nets out the PV production. For example, if the gross kWh usage in the home was 1100 kWh, and the PV system produced 100 kWh, the entry should be 1000 kWh. Most utility bills do this by default, so enter usage directly off of the utility bills.

Snugg Pro takes the array size, slope, age, and orientation to estimate the PV production and adds it into the entered utility usage to accurately model and calibrate electric usage.

  2. Homes that added PV within the last 12 months
For homes that do not have 12 months' production baked into the utility bills, it will be necessary to net out PV production during the months following PV installation. If the utility bills do not have this data on them, it may be necessary to go into the PV's software to find out how much electric production occurred between meter reads and add that back into the usage data. Unfortunately, every PV system and every PV installer will have unique ways of collecting and displaying this data.
