We’re excited to introduce a new feature that makes calculating the percentage of window area to walls faster, easier, and significantly more accurate. This enhancement is available at no additional cost for all programs.
If you would like to enable this feature, please contact Support.
Window‑area calculations play an important role in model calibration—especially for BPI-2400 calibration.
Instead of manually measuring every exterior wall and window, you can now upload a photo and draw shapes directly onto it to automatically compute the Window‑to‑Wall Ratio (WWR).
Here’s a short video that shows just how easy it is to use this feature.
How to Use the Window‑to‑Wall Ratio Tool
1. Open the WWR Tool
Navigate to the Windows input section.
Choose the appropriate window system.
Under Window Area, each orientation header (i.e. North, East, South, West), you’ll see photo selection tools.
Click Measure with WWR Tool.
Select and upload your photo.
2. Draw Wall Areas
Once the photo is visible, click Draw Walls in the left toolbar.
Two shape options will appear: Rectangle and Triangle.
Select the appropriate shape.
Click on the photo and drag to position and size the shape over each wall area.
Repeat this process until all wall areas for that orientation are covered.
3. Draw Window Areas
Click Draw Windows in the left toolbar.
Select a window shape from the shape options.
Draw each window on top of the corresponding wall area.
As you place windows, the Window‑to‑Wall Ratio will automatically update in the lower‑left corner.
If you have many windows of the same size, use the Duplicate button in the upper‑right corner of the canvas to quickly copy shapes.
4. Triangles Edit Mode
By default, triangle shapes start as isosceles.
If you need a different shape:
Select the triangle on the canvas.
Click Edit on the right side of the canvas.
Click and drag any vertex to reshape the triangle into any valid custom triangle.
This allows you to match more complex wall geometries.
5. Save Calculation
Once all the windows and walls shapes have been placed:
Click Save Calculation to store the measurements.
If you need to adjust anything later, reopen the tool by clicking Measure with WWR Tool.
When the photo appears, click Restore Measurements to load and edit the shapes from your previous calculation.
Important Notes & Best Practices
Overlapping shapes are not included in calculations—avoid stacking shapes unless intentional.
Windows must be placed entirely within wall areas.
Include the full frame when tracing a window.
Combine rectangles and triangles as needed to match complex shapes.
Take photos straight on—avoid angled or diagonal perspectives for best accuracy.
