Assembly R Values
Updated over a year ago

Some utility programs look at the grand total assembly R value of a surface area as opposed the R value of the actual insulation installed such as cavity or continuous insulation. The Assembly R value is the result of a parallel path calculation of a surface area that includes the insulating properties of things such as sheathing, drywall, framing, and air films, as well as the cavity and continuous insulation. That calculation looks something like this:

Previously, our users had no visibility into this complicated calculation.

We now display the final value from this calculation in a disabled field in the Now & Goal section of each relevant related measure.

This is for reference only! It does not mean that you should be entering insulation values any differently. This data is entered by the system and can only be changed by changing the R Values or the makeup of the surface area by editing things like Wall Cladding, Wall Type, etc.
