Heat Tape (Snow & Ice Melt)

You plug one end of the tape into an outlet and spiral-wrap the rest around a pipe or gutter clips.

Modern tapes have a built-in thermostat that automatically calls for power (and the resulting heat) as the surrounding temperature drops near freezing and cuts power off as the temperature rises.

Energy usage can vary between six (6) watts and twelve (12) watts per lineal foot of heat tape.

On average, heat tape consumes nine (9) watts per lineal foot, which what the Snugg default uses, but it may be notified.

You can specify the use or elimination of heat tape as an electric load, using the Misc Electric Loads measure.
