All-electric vehicles (EVs) run on electricity only. They are propelled by one or more electric motors powered by rechargeable battery packs.

If the vehicle is charged at home, please use the section under Misc Electric Loads to add the electric load to the homeowner report.

EVs can be specified by either a Detailed or Simple method. The same controls are available in the refine screen and apply to both the base and improved sides.

Detailed Input

The Detailed method calculates the kWh/year through the inputs of Miles Driven Per Year, the efficiency of the EV in kWh per 100 miles, and the percent of charging that is done at home.

Simple Input

The Simple method allows you to input the exact kWh per year that the car charging consumes.

Driving range. EVs have a shorter driving range than most conventional vehicles—although EV driving ranges are improving.

Most EVs can travel more than 100 miles on a charge, and some can travel in excess of 200 or 300 miles depending on the model.

Fully recharging the battery pack can take 3 to 12 hours. Even a "fast charge" to 80% capacity can take up to 30 min.
